IYella.....a love story

I was sitting in my dorm room, sun bathing through my open window on a sunny day, when- after bunches of thinking and ramen noodles- I made what could perhaps be the biggest decision of my life! I made the decision that I am- from now on and forever more- an IPhone person.
See, I got my first IPhone about two weeks ago after a sudden urge to upgrade from my old dinosaur of a phone. Surprisingly, before I walked into the AT&T store that day, I was an anti-IPhone person. I thought IPhone owners all had a smug air about them when it came to their cellular devices. It was like a cult! They all banded together over apps and consoled one another when the phone was dropped on the ground. I didn’t understand it, so of course- I hated it!
However, my hatred for the IPhone quickly wavered as soon as I was told by a salesman named Kevin that I was eligible to buy my very own. I couldn’t believe it! Me, the newest member of the cult I had once hated with such intensity that I had once even muted someone on twitter for a week because they wouldn’t stop talking about theirs.
I bought the phone and any accessories the store offered and took it home like a brand new baby anything. I locked myself in my room and tinkered with it for a while, pressing buttons (well, pressing screens. It only has one true button) and listening to the generic ring tones with a blatant feeling of happiness im almost embarrassed to admit was brought to me by a phone!
When my IPhone was a week old ( I resisted the urge to throw it a birthday party) I named it, like I do most things I love…even things I like a little. Her name was IYella and she was officially the center of my world. I talked to her, I played games with her, I loved her. My significant other became jealous of her, often hiding her under pillows and purposely putting in the wrong passcode to open her so that she’d shut down for  15 minutes. There came a time when seeing me without her was as shocking as seeing a ghost. It was officially… I was a part of the IPhone cult. In fact, I was quickly becoming the president of the Georgia chapter.
I wrote this not only to glorify my phone (even though its pretty awesome), but I instead wrote this as a love letter to the new love of my life. When IYella is old and her home button starts to stick and her screen starts to scratch, there will be more after her. There will be an IPhone 20 and I’ll probably wait in line to get it the very day it comes out. But I will never forget my first.
Aside from a thirty minute freeze I had to go to Google to figure out how to fix, IYella and I have not had any problems. In fact, I’ve since fallen deeper in love with her since I’ve downloaded a few more apps. This, has been a love story…and no, im not at all embarrassed that I am in love with my phone. In fact, im proud. And that’s my story of how sunbathing in a window….and a salesman named Kevin….led me to the love of my life.

Random Survey!

Photo brought to you by

I hate surveys. I feel like a piece of paper is trying to get to know more about me than Im comfortable with telling it. Sure, I know that names are usually unimportant and my facebook page would probably get me fired before that DirectTV survey would. But I cant help but feeling like every answer I put down will be read aloud and laughed at around a water cooler some day. So I tend to stay away from them and hope that no establishment or company asks for my "valued opinion" any time soon.
However, this week in Media writing class, I was given the assignment to create one of my very own! How ironic! So I sat and thought, "what do I want to know about other people? What questions have I always wanted to ask a classroom full of about 13 women or so and the three teenagers who will happen upon this page by mistake while looking for cooler blogs?"
Thus, the "Random Survey" was created! A survey about absolutely nothing and everything at the same time. The questions are as the title implies: Random. As am I. And the surveys purpose is to get my followers to think as randomly as I do....even if just for a second.

The "Randomest" Bucket List You Will Ever Read!

So, i'm familiar with the idea of a bucket list. I even saw the movie. So when prompted to write my own, I was quite excited. However, I didn't want to be mundane about it because mundane just isn't me. I find the normal options of "graduate college" or "get married and have kids" a bit to bland for me....and a lot too bland for this blog! So hee it is: themost random bucket list of things i'd like to do before I kick the bucket! Done in true random style...

I would like to......

1. Get stuck on an elevator for more than 5 minutes
2. Find myself in a situation where I can be the one to start off one of those spontaneous rounds of applause
3. Go to New York to a taping of Wendy Williams in hopes to see Wendy herself and creep her out by telling her that sometimes I pretend she's my fairy godmother.
4. Have kids that wear tiny t-shirts with the names and logos of my favorite bands on them.
5. Eat a marshmallow that's been toasted over a valcano
6. Start a spontaneous song and dance in a grocery or general store...preferrably wal-mart.
7. Own a whitecastle restaurant that's opened to no one but myself.
8. Meet Kanye West and see if he does the kanye shrug in person
9. Catch a pop baseball at a major league baseball game
10. Own a great dane named Prada
11.......Own a Prada bag.
12. Go to a soda factory
13. Pull a fire alarm
14. Find an incredibly funny sign to submit on funnysigns.com
15. Have at least 30 days of my life documented via cam corder
16. Be on the red carpet of a random awards show
17. Become a youtube sensation
18. Be followed by a stray cat or dog (that doesn't have rabies) and fall in love with that cat or dog until the day I can ultimately tell the story of how my pet was a stray that followed me home one day and people can say "awwwww!"
19. Succesfully eat just one pringle
20. Find out exactly WHO let the dogs out....I would also like to find those dogs and put them back in.
21. Invent a cell phone that knows everything im thinking....it wouldn't even have keys or buttons...there would be no need for them....now THAT'S a smart phone
22. Become a one hit wonder
23. Go to Paris and eat bread with a red and white striped shirt on
24. Spend the night in a hostel without being the new main character of a scary thriller movie.
25. Have breakfast and dinner in a different country on the same day

I'm in love

property of theawesomer.com
So nearly every week I fall completely and utterly in love with something or someone. And this week is no different! Everyone meet the new found love of my life (for now): Cliche over-watched youtube videos! For the past few days i've been glued to my laptop, adding views to videos of sneezing pandas and giggling babies. I watched the Marcel the Shell with shoes on video so many times that everyone sounded exactly like him/her for two days straight! Youtube has made me realize something about myself and i'm sure im not the only one in America who has come to this conclusion after watching a video of a guy singing 'numa numa' 12 times: It doesn't take much to enetertain me. In fact, the two videos that i've watched the most dont even amount to five minutes of video if you put them TOGETHER. And i'm sure you'll see how simplistic they are when you watch them (there's a link below). I'll be honest and admit I have a problem: I've watched each of these videos OVER 50 times, and laughed at each one each time as if it were my first time watching it! I hope there's a Youtube Addiction Rehab Center....I should youtube it and see : )

Anyway....here are my two favorite Youtube videos

Tracks (A story)

So Kristal Thomas and I were walking down the steps of my dorm when I realized something i've never known about myself before as I spotted a trail of muddy shoe prints sprinkling down the hall: I LOVE TRACKS! No, not train tracks or anything of that nature. But true Agatha-Christie-Style tracks! Whether they be made by shoes, animal hooves, bread crumbs (in true hansel -and-gretel-style), or Gummy Worms, I love a good trail of almost anything to follow!
Kristal watched me with a look of what I believe was utter disbelief in my age as my eyes became big as saucers and I pointed down to the mud-soiled carpet and squealed in delight. Of course, I had to follow the foot prints (which in my mind were now all some big clue to some big case I was determined to solve in the near future) and when i did, they led dissapointingly to the back door of my dormitory.....and not to a sloppily hidden dead body or a pile of hidden treasure. It seemed instead of someone being in on a big heist and forgetting to wipe the bottom of their shoes as they tried to discard their evidence, someone had simply forgotten to wipe the bottom of their shoes after they had come in from walking outside. Grrrr.
There went all the exciting things I had already began to get exicted about! No tan-colored cloak, pipe, and magnifying glass. No talking Great Dane and at no point in my near future would I be allowed to shout "Jenkies!" without being frowned upon. Nope, my days as a private eye were over just as soon as they  had started.
So Kristal and I went on to lunch that day and I tried to put the tracks in the back of my mind.....
   Until I saw them again.
I happened to be walking alongside my friend Paislie when I noticed them again.
"Do you wonder where these foot prints lead to?" I asked her, curious to know if I was the only one who heard theme music any time a trail was spotted.
She shrugged and looked at them for a second, "Probably to that door back there" she answered simply.
I became annoyed "You mean to tell me that's the best you can come up with!? What if they lead to a million dollars lying on the ground or a dead body?" I whined
"Why would a million dollars be lying-"
   "THAT'S NOT THE POINT!"
Paislie shurgged and took another look at the foot prints...and I watched as thoughts began to play over in her mind. It was happening! She was hearing that theme music now and she was wishing she had a cloak, pipe, and magnifying glass! I was not alone!
"I guess it could lead to a dead body. Murderers usually wear dirty shoes" she suggested "Or they can come from a guy that walked up these stairs from the back door to stalk someone"
"Exactly!" I said, excited to have a sidekick!
She bent down and ran her fingers across one of the prints, her forehead wrinkling as she observed the mud crack under the pressure of he touch
"They've been here for a while. The stalker could have killed the girl already!" she discovered
I gasped "He's probably already halfway to mexico by now!"
She gasped in horror "Oh my god! Let's follow them! Let's see where they go!" She pleaded.
I shook my head as I watched Paislie take off down the hall, her eyes on the tracks "My goodness, Paislie!" I said " They only lead to the back door! You have such an imagination!"
  "But I-"
"You're so weird! I'm going to go do my work"
With that, I left Paislie and headed for the lobby of our dorm, satisfied in knowing that I was not the only one who could be transformed into a private eye at the sight of a trail. Paislie is my evidence that there is a detective in all of us.....all it takes is a day old trail of foot prints and a crazy friend to help bring it out!

***NOTICE****- Paislie nor her self esteem were harmed in the writing of this blog entry. She is still weird and she is STILL my friend.

Kittens in a hole.

I think I was a cat in my past life. No, not because I come equipped with a certain prowess and not because I could die tomorrow and do so eight more times after that. But because I always notice stray cats. Its like I have a knack for spotting them sleeping under cars and doing other stray cat things. So its no surprise that today on my way to a meeting, my eyes landed on the most adorable sight i've ever seen at 2 pm on a monday: THREE KITTENS! They were all huddled in a hole on the side of a building- a hole that looked like it had once been filled with about 5 or 6 bricks. I melted as I watched two of them wrestle around while the other watched on. There I was- a 20 year old college student with way too much to do and for some reason I could not pull my eyes away from those kittens. Come to think about it, I dont think there are too many things in life that could win my attention more than three kittens in a hole. American Idol, a shiny new sports car, all of my favorite foods lined up on table in order from most awesome to least awesome- all of these pale in comparison to three kittens in a hole. I'm not sure what that says about my character.....or the amount of time I have on my hands.

Welcome to my random thoughts!!!

Hello!
If you're reading this, you are one of the lucky (few) who have found a blog dedicated to nothing but the many random things I think throughout my day. You see, when im in class, im thinking (usually about things not related to class). When im eating i'm usually thinking (usually about things not related to my food). Bottom line is this: My name is Tiffany and I am ALWAYS thinking! Which is one of the many awesome things about me, aside from the fact that I own a tea cup chihuahua and have a strange obsession with Marilyn Monroe for no distinct reason whatsoever. I could tell you the usual things people tell other people about themselves when they're just being met- Things like "Im a Mass Comm major at Brenau University in Gainesville,Ga, im a music junkie, and i enjoy long walks on the beach"- but I wont do that. Instead, i'll tell you random things about myself....things no one else should tell another person when first meeting.

1. The phrases "Dangling Participle" and "Tiddly Winks" make me giggle
2. I often times smell my food before eating it
3. When I was 9 I ran smack dab into a window at a car lot and got free oil changes for my mom's car for 5 years
4. People on stilts scare me
5. I've been reading a book. it's awesome.
6. I would really like a pair of overalls just to say I own one.
7. I've never liked twizzlers. In fact, I hate them. But have eaten three in the last week.
8. If I get cake....im going to want to eat it too....no matter how the old saying goes.
9. There is a stain on the ceiling of my dorm room shaped like a puppy. The stain has a name. I get bored a lot in that room, apparently.
10. I would one day like to get married in a Starbucks.

So there's me in a nutshell! I'm excited to have all of these visitors in my mind!!! I just hope you guys are ready to be absolutely perplexed at how a girl with a full college schedule can have enough time to think of these things.
                                                                                                              Until next time!
